Editor's Path Properties has 'Stitch type' but the 'fill' path's fill parameters (angle, spacing) are not exposed — user with a fill path wanting to set the fill angle (e.g., 45°) has no UI #373

Finding

grep -rn 'fillAngle\|fillSpacing' src/components/editor/ returns 0. The editor has no fill parameters.

Fill stitches have:

  • Angle (the direction of the fill rows, e.g., 0°, 45°, 90°)
  • Spacing (the distance between fill rows, e.g., 0.4mm)
  • Stitch type (e.g., tatami, satin-in-fill, complex)

A user with a fill path:

  • Wants the fill to be at 45° (instead of horizontal)
  • No UI to set this

The fix is fill parameters.

Where

  • Path Properties: src/components/editor/EditorRightPanel.tsx
  • No fill params: grep -rn 'fillAngle' src/components/editor/ returns 0

Suggested fix shape

  1. Type: add fillAngle: number and fillSpacing: number to the StitchPath type (when stitchType is 'fill').

  2. UI: when the stitch type is 'fill', show:

{p.stitchType === 'fill' && (
  <>
    <NumberField
      label="Fill angle"
      value={p.fillAngle ?? 0}
      onChange={(v) => onUpdateFillAngle(p.id, v)}
      min={-180}
      max={180}
      step={15}
      unit="°"
    />
    <NumberField
      label="Fill spacing"
      value={p.fillSpacing ?? 0.4}
      onChange={(v) => onUpdateFillSpacing(p.id, v)}
      min={0.1}
      max={2}
      step={0.05}
      unit="mm"
    />
  </>
)}
  1. Visual: the fill angle is shown in the canvas (a faint dashed line indicating the fill direction).

  2. Use cases:

  • Power users with embroidery experience
  • Designs where the fill direction matters (e.g., a quilt's grain)
  1. History: single undoable action per parameter change.

Severity**

Medium. Fill angle and spacing are critical for production embroidery. Power users notice.

Discovered by

Gap analysis (2026-10-02) of editor path properties.

  • #314 (open) — Satin width. Same embroidery-specific parameters.
  • #317 (open) — Density in mm. Same family.
  • Wilcom/Hatch have fill angle/spacing. The editor's gap is the parallel.
