Summary

Re-enables mypy as a required (gating) step in the backend-lint CI job. The step was removed entirely in 5184b67 ("fix(ci): trim workflow to a deterministic 3-job lint gate") because the single-job-serial runner's dispatch window could not fit the full 9-job matrix. Now that mypy debt is at zero (PR #155), the step can be re-added without breaking the runner's dispatch budget — mypy is deterministic, network-light, and matches the lint profile.

Baseline → current

Snapshot mypy errors files
Original 538-error baseline (issue #109) 538 89
After PR #124 (9176d7f) — real-bug bucket ~200 ~50
After PR #127 (21c1aba) — var-annotated bucket ~80 ~20
After PR #151 (5c26589 etc.) — Optional/None + union + dict-item + redundant-cast + unused-ignore + index + operator + arg-type + no-redef + truthy-function + misc + unreachable + no-any-return 53 23
After PR #155 (428b01a etc.) — attr-defined + union-attr + assignment 0 0
This PR — locally verified 0 0

Local run on d9dc0f8 + this PR's diff:

$ cd backend && mypy app/ --config-file ../pyproject.toml
Success: no issues found in 184 source files

Changes

  1. .forgejo/workflows/ci.yml — add a mypy step inside backend-lint, after the existing ruff format check. No continue-on-error so the step is gating. Pins mypy==1.13.0 to match the version that achieved zero errors locally and is documented in pyproject.toml.

  2. 7 ruff format drift files folded in from PR #155 — purely cosmetic line-wrap fixes (no semantic edits), to keep ruff format --check green:

    • backend/app/modules/osint_playbook.py
    • backend/app/modules/pdf_analyzer.py
    • backend/app/routers/investigations.py
    • backend/app/services/investigations/async_executor.py
    • backend/app/services/investigations/entity_tools.py
    • backend/app/services/investigations/pipeline/runner.py
    • backend/app/services/investigations/queue_manager.py

Verification

Check Result
ruff check app/ --config ../pyproject.toml All checks passed!
ruff format --check app/ --config ../pyproject.toml 184 files already formatted
mypy app/ --config-file ../pyproject.toml Success: no issues found in 184 source files
Pre-commit ruff v0.11.0 (pinned) format unchanged
Pre-commit ruff v0.11.0 check All checks passed!
git diff --check origin/main...HEAD clean

CI will run on PR open; expected: backend-lint green (ruff + mypy), frontend-lint green, all-checks-pass green.

Acceptance (matches task body)

backend-lint CI is green with mypy as a required check. PR description references the original 538-error baseline and shows current count = 0.

Both criteria are met by the diff in this PR. Awaiting CI confirmation on PR open.

Re-enables mypy as a required check in the backend-lint CI job after PR #155
(commits 1632e45..428b01a) drove the mypy debt to zero across all 184 files
under Mark/osint-hub's pyproject.toml mypy config:

  - 20 [unreachable] (091f831)
  - 15 [no-any-return] (1632e45)
   - 8 [redundant-cast] (5c26589)
   - 7 [unused-ignore] (5c26589)
   - 7 [index, operator, etc.] (5c26589)
   - 8 [dict-item] (3f03bcd)
  - 20 [attr-defined/union-attr/assignment] (428b01a)

Acceptance: backend-lint CI is green with mypy as a required check; PR
description references the original 538-error baseline and shows the current
count = 0 (verified locally: 'Success: no issues found in 184 source files').

The original 5184b67 commit removed the mypy step entirely because the
single-job-serial runner's dispatch window could not fit the full 9-job
matrix. This PR adds only mypy (deterministic, network-light) back as a
required step in backend-lint. The frontend-lint and security-daily jobs are
untouched.

Also folds in 7 ruff format --check drift files left behind by the mypy sweep
(osint_playbook, pdf_analyzer, routers/investigations, async_executor,
entity_tools, pipeline/runner, queue_manager) — pure line-wrap changes, no
semantic edits. With these, 'ruff format --check app/' passes cleanly.

Closes #109.
