Overview

Build semantic retrieval system for finding relevant document chunks.

Details

Create substrate/document_retriever.py:

DocumentRetriever class:

• retrieve(query, doc_types, project_id, limit) -> list[RetrievalResult]
• get_context_for_query(query, max_tokens) -> formatted_string
• Uses existing embedding provider

RetrievalResult:

• doc_id, chunk_id
• source_file, line_number
• excerpt (highlighted)
• similarity_score

Features:

• Semantic similarity search
• Filter by doc_type (project_file, artifact, template, schema)
• Filter by project_id
• Include excerpts in results

Acceptance Criteria

• Semantic search returns relevant results
• Results include excerpts and filenames
• Filter by type and project works
• Token limit respected in context
