Gallery has no multi-select or bulk action — user must delete/move one design card at a time even with 20+ designs #179

Finding

src/pages/Gallery.tsx has DesignCard rendered per-design with per-card actions (Open in Editor, Open in Workspace, Duplicate, Move to Folder, Delete, Toggle Favorite, Rename). Every action is per-card. A user with 20+ designs who wants to delete 5 of them has to:

  1. Click delete on card A
  2. Confirm the delete dialog
  3. Click delete on card B
  4. Confirm
  5. ... 3 more times

There is no checkbox on each card, no "Select all" toggle, no bulk-action toolbar that appears when N cards are selected. The Gallery treats each design as a one-off interaction.

A user who has been digitizing for a few weeks and has accumulated 50+ designs wants to:

  • Tidy up: delete 10 designs at once
  • Organize: move 8 designs to a "Favorites" folder in one batch
  • Export: select 5 designs to export in one go (not currently possible from the Gallery at all)

Where

  • Gallery page: src/pages/Gallery.tsx
  • DesignCard: src/components/gallery/DesignCard.tsx
  • No selection state: grep -n 'selectedIds\|selectedDesigns\|bulkDelete\|moveSelected' src/pages/Gallery.tsx returns 0 matches

Suggested fix shape

  1. Add a selection mode toggle to the Gallery toolbar. When toggled on, each card shows a checkbox in the top-left corner. The toolbar gains a "Select all" button, a count of selected items, and bulk actions: Delete, Move to Folder, Add to Favorites.

  2. State management: a selectedIds: Set<string> in Gallery's local state, persisted in useLocalStorage so a refresh keeps the selection. When the user toggles selection mode off, the set is cleared.

  3. Bulk delete confirmation: a single dialog confirms "Delete N designs?" instead of N individual confirms.

  4. Bulk move: a folder picker dialog, then handleMoveToFolder is called for each selected design.

  5. Empty selection disables the bulk-action buttons.

Severity

Medium. Users with many designs feel the friction. New users with 5 designs don't notice.
