[quickfix] Add LICENSE file (Apache-2.0 recommended for framework) #5

Repo has README, SPEC.md (27KB), and docs/ARCHITECTURE.md, but no LICENSE. Entity defs, scripts, and the in-game admin toolkit can ship with third-party games; without a license, downstream use falls back to "all rights reserved" in most jurisdictions and the framework is functionally un-adoptable.

What to do

Add LICENSE at repo root. Recommended: Apache-2.0 because:

  1. Multiplayer server frameworks benefit from the explicit patent grant.
  2. LICENSE boilerplate ships with most CI tooling (REUSE, GitHub's license picker).
  3. Compatible with downstream proprietary forks (Lua/Minetest precedent).

Use the standard SPDX header:

# SPDX-License-Identifier: Apache-2.0
# ... full text or `cat /usr/share/spdx/apache-2.0.txt > LICENSE` ...

Acceptance

LICENSE exists at repo root, contains the Apache-2.0 text, git log -- LICENSE shows the file's addition commit, and Mark/veilwalkers shows Apache-2.0 in the Forgejo "License" sidebar.

Added LICENSE (canonical SPDX Apache-2.0 text, 73 lines) at the repo root.

  • commit: 8ea0a0a (docs: add Apache-2.0 LICENSE)
  • pushed to origin/main
  • Forgejo license sidebar should now read Apache-2.0

Why Apache-2.0:

  • explicit patent grant is the right fit for a multiplayer server framework
  • SPDX-canonical text — REUSE-compatible and detected by Forgejo's sidebar
  • compatible with downstream proprietary forks

The card was small enough to land inline (one file, no tests required, no CI gate beyond the existing pre-commit godot which passed).
