When another repo has a CI pipeline that builds a new Docker image, Node Hub should have a clean API endpoint to upgrade the running app to that new image — restart the container with the updated image without a full redeploy.

Requirements:

  • API endpoint accepting (instanceId, imageTag/repoUrl) to upgrade an existing running app
  • No full redeploy needed — just pull new image and restart container
  • Forgejo Actions in app repos can call this endpoint post-build
  • Graceful: no dropped connections during upgrade
  • Compatible with the non-autostart and auto-timeout patterns
