Feature Request

Family-oriented layer on top of the person model — shared events, chore tracking, and coordination tools for households and families.

Family Events

Events that involve multiple family members at once (not 1:1):

  • Dinner, holidays, reunions, doctor appointments, school events
  • RSVP / who's attending
  • Recurring: weekly dinner, monthly family game night
  • Notifications: remind the group, not just one person

Shared Tasks / Chores

  • Assign tasks to family members: "Alice takes out trash", "Bob does dishes"
  • Rotating schedule: weekly chore rotation visible to the group
  • Completion tracking: mark done, see who's behind
  • Optional: rewards / allowance tracking for kids

Coordination

  • Shared grocery / shopping list per household
  • Calendar view showing everyone's events on one screen
  • Emergency contacts: quick access to family members

Data Model

interface FamilyEvent {
  id: number;
  title: string;
  date: string;
  recurring: "none" | "daily" | "weekly" | "monthly" | "yearly";
  participants: number[];      // person IDs
  location?: string;
  notes?: string;
  reminderDaysBefore: number[];
}

interface FamilyTask {
  id: number;
  title: string;
  assigneeId: number;          // person ID
  dueDate?: string;
  recurring: string;
  completed: boolean;
  completedAt?: string;
  rotationGroup?: string; // for rotating chores
  points?: number;             // for rewards
}

UI

  • New "Family" tab or section (if >1 person in household)
  • Family dashboard: upcoming events, open tasks, who's slacking
  • Per-person task list on their PersonDetail
  • Shared list for groceries / shopping

Relationship to existing features

  • FamilyEvents extend the existing DateEvent model with multi-person participants
  • FamilyTasks are new (not covered by existing Interaction/Gift tracking)
  • Complements the bills/expenses feature (#27) for household coordination
