The grinning-seal spell (src/data/spells.ts) has pattern [gate, seal], but "seal" is a SigilType and sigils never enter chains: the UI only offers the 7 base symbols, the AI picks from base symbols only, and compressChain()/decompressChain() are display-only utilities never applied to game chains. The design comment in src/engine/reversals.ts says "the 'seal' sigil is a tell in itself (sigils are rare in chains)" — they are actually impossible. The spell can never complete in any game mode. Fix either by making sigils playable (larger design change) or by changing the pattern to base symbols (e.g. [gate, veil, knot]).
