Editor's Path Properties has 'Stitch type' but the 'running' type has no running-stitch-length input — user wanting to control the length of each running stitch has no UI #392

Finding"

grep -rn 'runningStitchLength\|runningParams' src/components/editor/ returns 0. The editor has no running-stitch length.

Running stitch has:

  • Stitch length (the length of each stitch, e.g., 3mm)
  • Direction (along the path)

A user with a running-stitch path:

  • Wants the stitches to be longer (for quilting guides) or shorter (for detail)
  • No UI to set this

The fix is running-stitch parameters.

Where

  • Path Properties: src/components/editor/EditorRightPanel.tsx
  • No running params: grep -rn 'runningStitchLength' src/components/editor/ returns 0

Suggested fix shape

  1. Type: add runningStitchLength: number to the StitchPath type (when stitchType is 'running').

  2. UI: when stitch type is 'running', show:

{p.stitchType === 'running' && (
  <NumberField
    label="Stitch length"
    value={p.runningStitchLength ?? 3.0}
    onChange={(v) => onUpdateRunningStitchLength(p.id, v)}
    min={1}
    max={10}
    step={0.1}
    unit="mm"
  />
)}
  1. Visual: the canvas shows the running-stitch pattern at the specified length.

  2. Use cases:

  • Quilting guides
  • Detail lines
  • Construction stitches
  1. History: single undoable action.

Severity**

Low. The user can use the default. Power users notice.

Closing as part of the per-stitch-type parameter family. See #314 (satin width) and the comment on #390 for the umbrella.
