Editor's Path Properties section has no 'min length' / 'split short paths' warning — user with a 2mm path knows it's too short for embroidery, but no validation #343

Finding

grep -rn 'minPathLength\|shortPathWarn' src/components/editor/ returns 0. The editor doesn't warn about very short paths.

A user with a path of 2mm:

  • Doesn't realize that's too short for embroidery
  • Exports and the machine skips it (or stitches are too dense)

The fix is a warning for paths below a minimum length.

Where

  • Path Properties: src/components/editor/EditorRightPanel.tsx
  • No min length: grep -rn 'minPathLength' src/components/editor/ returns 0

Suggested fix shape

  1. Threshold: 5mm is the typical minimum path length for embroidery.

  2. UI: in the Path Properties section, a small warning:

{p.pathLength < 5 && (
  <p className="text-[10px]" style={{ color: '#DC2626' }}>
    ⚠ Path is {p.pathLength.toFixed(1)} mm — below the 5 mm minimum for embroidery.
  </p>
)}
  1. Highlight: short paths are drawn with a red outline on the canvas.

  2. Auto-fix: a "Merge with adjacent path" button if another path is within 2mm.

  3. Use cases:

  • The user has stray short paths from imprecise drawing
  • The user is auto-digitizing and the output has noise

Severity

Low. The user can spot short paths visually. Power users with production embroidery notice.
